Step 7: Verify the Client Was Added

After creation, you'll see your new client appear in the Clients table. You can:

  • Click on the client's name to view their full profile
  • Start creating projects, proposals, or invoices for them
  • Send them a portal invitation to collaborate

Tips and Best Practices

Use consistent naming conventions: If you work with both individuals and companies, establish a clear naming pattern (e.g., "John Smith - ABC Corp" or "ABC Corp (John Smith)").

Fill in the Source field: Tracking where clients come from helps you understand which marketing channels are most effective for your business.

Start with Active status: Most clients should be set to Active by default. Use Inactive status only for past clients you're no longer working with.

Add notes immediately: Capture important context right when you add the client. Note any special requirements, preferences, or key dates while they're fresh in your mind.

Complete all contact information: The more complete your client profiles, the easier it is to communicate and manage relationships.

Troubleshooting

Issue: The "Create Client" button is grayed out or disabled.

Solution: Ensure you've filled in all required fields (Name and Email). Check that the email address is in a valid format (contains @ symbol and domain).

Issue: I get an error saying "A client with this email already exists."

Solution: growlio prevents duplicate email addresses to maintain data integrity. Search your existing clients to find the duplicate, or use a different email address. If the client has multiple emails, add the alternate email in the Notes field.

Issue: I don't see my new client in the list after creating it.

Solution: Check that you're not filtering the view. Click the "All Clients" tab to see all clients regardless of status. Also ensure your search bar is empty.

Issue: I reached my client limit on the free plan.

Solution: growlio's free plan includes up to 5 clients. To add more clients, upgrade to a paid plan by clicking your profile icon, then "Upgrade Plan."
