Changing Client Status
Summary: Learn how to update client status in growlio to accurately reflect relationship states and maintain organized records.
Overview
Client status helps you categorize customers based on their current relationship with your business. Changing status from "Active" to "Inactive" (or vice versa) keeps your client list organized and ensures you focus on current relationships. This guide shows you multiple ways to update client status efficiently.
Prerequisites
- Active growlio account
- Existing client records
- Member-level permissions or higher
- Understanding of your business's status definitions
How to Change Client Status
Step 1: Navigate to Clients List
Go to Business > Clients to view your complete client database. You'll see all clients with their current status displayed in the list view.

Step 2: Locate Target Client
Use the search bar or scroll through your list to find the client whose status you want to change. You can also filter by current status to quickly find specific clients.

Tip: Use the status tabs at the top (All, Active, Inactive) to view specific groups before making changes.
Step 3: Open Actions Menu
Click the three-dot menu icon next to the client's name. This opens a dropdown menu with available actions for that client record.

Step 4: Select Change Status
In the actions menu, hover over or click "Change Status" to see available status options. growlio displays current status with a checkmark.

Step 5: Choose New Status
Click the desired status (Active or Inactive). The status updates immediately without requiring additional confirmation.
Tip: Active status is for current clients. Use Inactive for past customers you're no longer working with but want to keep in your database.
Step 6: Confirm Status Update
A success notification appears confirming the status change. The client immediately moves to the appropriate status tab and any status-based filters update.

Step 7: Change Status from Client Profile
Alternatively, open any client's profile page by clicking their name. Find the status dropdown at the top of the profile and select a new status directly.

Troubleshooting
Issue: Status won't change when clicked
Solution: Ensure you have Member-level permissions or higher. Viewers cannot modify client data. Refresh your browser and try again. Check if you're experiencing internet connectivity issues.
Issue: Client disappeared after status change
Solution: The client didn't disappear - they moved to a different status tab. Click "All Clients" to see all records regardless of status, or click the specific status tab to find them.
Issue: Can't find status change option
Solution: Look for the three-dot menu next to the client name or open their full profile. The status dropdown should be visible at the top of the profile page under basic information.
Issue: Bulk status change didn't work
Solution: Verify you selected multiple clients before opening the bulk actions menu. Ensure all selected clients are eligible for status changes. Try changing status for clients one at a time if bulk continues failing.
Issue: Status change not reflected in reports
Solution: Reports may cache data briefly. Refresh the report or wait a few minutes for updates to propagate. Check that your report filters include the new status category.
